About the Artist

Melvin Morales is a Las Vegas based artist whose work centers on landscape photography. His interest in photography began at a young age. Picking up a Nikon camera, he became fascinated with the ability to capture moments as a way of preserving memory.

Morales was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design. During this time, he developed a deeper understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and observation through photography coursework.

In 2021, Morales moved to Las Vegas to reconnect with family and now calls it home. Since then, he has focused deeply on exploring Nevada and the Western region, setting roots, and engaging more intentionally with nature. As his travels expanded from familiar places, photography became a way to learn about new environments, understand different cultures, and connect more deeply with the world around him.

He is the founder of Proview Media, a creative company specializing in photography, videography, and web design for businesses. Through Proview Media, Morales combines his eye for visual storytelling with digital strategy to help brands communicate through imagery and design. To continue developing new skills, he obtained his drone pilot certification to gain a new perspective through aerial photography.

For Morales, photography has always been a way to bring places closer, share experiences with others, and create connection through imagery.

Artist Statement

My work is rooted in time spent in the landscape. Photography is an act of slowing down and paying attention to the surroundings. In Nevada's open terrain, change happens gradually and the land carries its history in plain view. Being present becomes a way of understanding scale, stillness, and permanence.

When I photograph landscapes throughout Nevada, I focus on environments that are often passed by or overlooked. These are the places where distance, light, and silence reveal the land is constant, while human presence remains temporary. Rather than documenting destinations, my work centers on the experience of standing within these spaces and allowing them to unfold without urgency.

My intention is to bring these landscapes closer to those who encounter my work. I aim to reduce the sense of separation between viewers and location. The photographs are meant to be observed as points of connection and reminders that these environments exist within reach. I hope to inspire my audience to experience Nevada beyond the frame.
